Members of ESRA who are involved with the Students Build a Neighborhood project in Hefzibah, Netanya, received a warm welcome from the students upon receiving their annual stipend. When tragedy hit an Ethiopian family ,ESRA’s Welfare committee was instantly able to help. Linen and electrical goods from ESRA’s Second Hand Shop helped to refurbish a new home for the family

A Warm Afternoon Home in Kiryat Nordau provides a rich program of learning, playing, art and enrichment classes for teenage girls at risk.

The Herzliya students of Build a Neighborhood took on a special project for the Purim event at the local community center which featured different countries and different cultures. Annette Lavender reports.

A course of five entertaining but workshops teaching self defense in a threatening situation to a group of 14 women ranging in age from 50 -82.

A most successful three day trip to the Dead Sea was enjoyed by a full busload of ESRAites. The trip included a visit to the Joe Alon Bedouin Center, to the Dead Sea works, a tour of Beersheba and a wonderful day at the Dead Sea.

Adele, a former chairperson of ESRA, and Mike Rubin were excellent hosts and guides for an ESRA group who recently visited Sderot where they now live. The history of the city was explained and its highlights were visited. The many public areas were impressive, especially the huge indoor play center. A short film of a rocket attack was shown.

A novel way to build stronger communities while supporting various charities, is described in Mini Bazaar on Mitzvah Day 2011. ESRA’s Students Build a Neighborhood in Herzliya held the successful event, a joint project of ESRA and the Municipality. Rosemary Rivlin reports.
